Individual Note: Marten Knud Mortensen told Dove, his daughter-in-law, that his
grandfather, Martin Mortensen Sr. used "Morten" for his temple
endowments. This would indicate he accepted it as his given name. No
birth certificate is available. His mother always spelled his name
"Marten," and he signed his name "Martin." Possibly he wanted to
Americanize his Danish name.
